New York Brass Arts Trio to Lead 2015 Artist-in-Residence Program
One goal of the Artist Series is to ensure that people living in Tallahassee and the surrounding area have music in their lives. We achieve this with an annual Artist-in-Residence program. The Residency seeks to actively support & foster arts awareness and engagement; ensure all populations, including disadvantaged, under-served and disabled have access to excellent classical music and to strengthen the community by creating shared experiences with diverse and excellent art.
As 2015 Artist-in-Residence the New York Brass Arts Trio will give workshops in Leon County and Gadsden County school districts. Workshops include opportunities for students to meet and interact with the Trio; an introduction to the instruments; demonstrations about how they are played; presentation of 3-4 pieces of music demonstrating the tone, texture and versatility of the instruments and a history of the artists’ accomplishments, including a discussion about how they “made it.”
The New York Brass Arts Trio will conclude their residency with a public concert, part of the Artist Series 2014 – 2015 Concert Season, on Sunday, January 25 at 4 p.m. in Opperman Music Hall.
The 2015 Artist-in-Residence program is made possible by South Arts, National Endowment for the Arts, City of Tallahassee, Leon County and the Florida Division of Cultural Affairs.

Carolyn Bridger with husband Waldie Anderson
The Artist Series is saddened by the sudden loss of our beloved co-founder and friend, Carolyn Bridger. She was an outstanding person – passionately in love with life, classical music and family. Carolyn brought joy to those fortunate enough to know her, and deserved every bit of applause and admiration we offered in return.
